"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart..."
-Mario Savio
Featuring:
The Engine of Cthulu
The Engine of Cruelty
The Engine of Contradiction
The Engine of Calamity
Musical Accompaniment:
The Operation:
The rumbling of the machine first became apparent when The Engine of Cruelty and The Engine of Cthulu were revealed to be two gears turning together to power the contraption to life. Soon after, the fitting of The Engine of Calamity into the works was rumored, and only confirmed once The Engine of Contradiction was incorporated as part of the operation.
What is the purpose of the machine? What final product does it assemble? What utility does it provide? Which waste does it destroy?
We know how the individual Engines contribute to the whole, but how many other cogs help the machine to turn? Are we all cogs in the device? How do you fit in?
The Introduction:
[The group entrance lends itself to customization by the contributing writer. The sections in bold italics should be uniquely edited each time, with the group appearing in different places in the main arena, with something masking their identities (ball caps pulled down low for instance). The group does not necessarily have to be sitting together as that would become predictable. They don't even have to be mixed in with the fans; they might be disguised as camera men, they might be manning the various foreign announce tables. Use your imagination, be creative, be chaotic.]
The deep, hard hitting opening bass riff of "In Disarray" by Pop Evil begins to play as the lights in the arena dim to a somber glow. When the guitar lick hits, beginning the song's main riff, the as-yet-unnoticed eighteen inch iron gears framing the entrance way begin to churn, the teeth emitting sparks as they spin violently out of control. The UGWC Stratosphere watches with bated breath for The Engine of Chaos to appear.
The disappointment is palpable when the deplorable apparatus' appearance isn't immediate.Without warning, however, the spotlight suddenly slides to the fourth row, where four fans wearing hooded coats throw their hoods back and stand up, revealing themselves to be the Engine of Chaos.
Amidst a chorus of roaring disapproval, the four parts of the mechanism stalk through the rows and step over the barrier, entering the ring in various ways before crossing and taking up positions in opposite corners.
